The first bank (or first set of 459 on the Edge itself) are where all the sounds specifically with AX in their name are located, which were presumably created just for the AX, though I'm not sure that all the sounds in this bank are unique to the AX. They apparently wanted to maintain some intentional demarcation/differentiation between the two sets, but there's no clue as to the logic behind it. ![]() But I would still wonder why they maintained two completely different sets of "Synth Brass" (for example) instead of integrating all the Synth Brass sounds into the same region of presets. The first set contains a bunch of grouped categories of similar sounds, and then the groups kind of "start over" with the second set, where most of the same groups are repeated with alternate patches. Looking at the voice list, there is indeed a logical split there. I also wonder about the split between the first 459 AX-Edge patches (Bank B) and the rest of them (Bank CMN). Bank CMN contains the remaining 837 tone list from the AX-Edge Keytar (from 460 to 1296)I wonder what the significance was of calling that last bank CMN instead of Bank F. ![]() Bank E contains the 896 patches from in the XV-5080. Bank D contains the 1109 SuperNatural Synth Tones from the Integra-7 / FA synths Bank C is the 128 patches from the INTEGRA-7 Synth Legends expansion. Bank B contains the first 459 tone list from the AX-Edge Keytar I jokingly assume the power of the new Fantom would be now enough for FA but it is not fully enough for the Fantom itself. but loss of polyphony seems a common issue in Rolands - always one generation under-powered for the amount of stuff they put in. I can easily do stuff my FA was chocking on. I have MOXF and I am absolutely positive the raw power of its 8 par per voice engine is vastly superior to what I had with Rolands previously. (the old Fantom G engine couldn't even do round robins) But those new tricks also eat polyphony. ![]() I assume the new "zen-core" engine is vastly improved hybrid of the old 4 part sample playback engine from G/FA with many new learned tricks. When I had my FA I of course optimistically added few SN layers for super lush sound only to find out the keyboard can't handle playing with 10 fingers anymore - not to mention sustain pedal.put a foot down and it just killed it. The Fantom G was relatively fine with its rather simplistic 4 part synth x 16 layers, then they added supernatural and each SN voice will eat oscillators like hungry wolf. This started when roland added more process intensive synth engines. Particles in space and Pink Oracle which likewise are running 5 parts (with 8 elements each as opposed to the Fantom's 4). ROLAND AX SYNTH PATCHES ABLETON FULLLake Tahoe, Metropolis etc can't really handle full chords on both hands and that's with only 5 zones (two of which are splits so not even covering the full range), play one up the other down and you can hear notes dropping out, the Montage doesn't seem to suffer the same issue on e.g. ROLAND AX SYNTH PATCHES ABLETON MAC OS XOperating System: Mac OS X / Windows / Linuxĭ-5 Manager 1.2.3 - Patch Editor / Librarian from Mountain UtilitiesĪ very cool editor to help tame the LA-Synth beast!Ĭoffeeshopped also has a long list of other synth editors. What I have noticed though is that quite a few patches max out the polyphony on the Fantom fast here, e.g. These include randomization, patch merging and blending of random patches, pushing patches closer towards other patches (very interesting), morphing interpolation between four patches and more Sean has also built in a range of creative tools to help with patch generation. It also has unlimited levels of undo, CC and NRPN mapping, real‑time updates, test notes and chords and some MPE support. Operating System: Mac OS X / Windows / Linux / Atari ST / Amiga 1200 / AnythingĮDISYN from developer Sean Luke is a synthesizer editor that gives you control over the D‑110 (and more than 60 other synths) via custom made MIDI editing synthesizer templates. It's a handy utility to verify unknown SysEx files and/or enable "broken" SysEx files to load using the correct MIDI channel ![]() It will display The Op Code, identify the synth or sampler make and model and suggest a MIDI channel to use when loading.
